Spinning Tutorial #1

When I divide my braid of fiber in half before I spin that is called pre-drafting The pinch method I was using with my hands is called drafting and I am doing a short draw Thanks, SO much to Laura Linemann for the correct spinning terminology:-)

  1. Thanks so much for this tutorial. I am contemplating purchasing a wheel and have chosen the Ladybug as the one I want. You make it look so easy and soothing.

  3. Diane, great tutorial. We have the same technique it seems. I was taught to pre-draft and it drove me completely mental. I almost gave up. The problem with it is that it's never even, so you actually never know what's coming, a thick bit or a drafted bit. Hated it. Now I sit back and work with my left hand, just like you. I acutally twist the fibers a bit before I let them go, just as a little "off you go guys, this is the way you're going to be spinning!"

  4. Diane, watching your video tonight, better late than never. When I started spinning I went to a guild meeting and just wandered around, watching everyone spin. Your video is like that. Thanks for taking the time.
